Nepal, 2017 – Part 1
This year, due to a scheduling conflict, I couldn’t get to Kathmandu in time for the big Losar party or the Shiva’s Slaves Run, but I did arrive during Losar and got some great shots of the Boudhanath Stupa with it’s new top and strung with colorful lights.
Unlike the ruined temples in Kathmandu’s Durbar Square, the Boudha Stupa was repaired with private funding, and thus quickly returned to normal. Most of the rest of the earthquake damage has yet to repaired. Here are a few more shots of Boudha after I returned from Pokhara.
During this time period a friend, Rupert Smith, was having an exhibition at the Tarragon Art Center, in Boudha, near the Hyatt Hotel.
The last bit of part one will be devoted to a Nepali run motorcycle shop in Thamel, Smoking Joe’s Speed Shop…Motorcycle Rental & Tours. They went on this year’s Shiva’s Slaves Run, riding one of the few Harley’s in town.
Stay Tuned for Part 2, I will post it soon.
